Douglas Louden

Douglas began his hotel career at Gleneagles Hotels London, before joining Regent International in Australia, and then moving to China with Shangri La International.

His career has taken him across the Asia Pacific region, with roles including General Manager of the Pan Pacific Bangkok, where he was recognised for his community work by UNICEF.

He later became Corporate Director of Operations for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, overseeing operations from the West Coast of USA to Japan, West and Southeast Asia, before joining Hotel Properties Ltd as Vice President, Operations, where he helped to develop the Hard Rock Hotels brand.

In 2006 he joined Hong Kong Resorts as General Manager -Hospitality, where his primary role was to oversee infrastructure operations of Hong Kong's largest private residential development, Discovery Bay.

He has been an independent Asset Manager since 2012 looking after hotels managed by Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, Starwood and Accor properties. In 2025 he merged his consulting group Perceptions Hospitality with Global Asset Solutions, where he became a managing partner.

In addition to his work with Unicef, Douglas is a long-time supporter of sustainable tourism, contributing to the creation of Youth Career Initiative of the Shinta Mani Foundation in Cambodia, which provides opportunities for disadvantaged youth around the world.

He served as president of the Hotel Asset Managers Association of Asia Pacific in 2022, and currently sits on the board.
